DTG apparel - Printed apparel should be machine-washed in cold water, meaning below 90℉ or 30℃, inside-out on a gentle cycle with a mild detergent and no fabric softener or bleach. What is considered a mild detergent? A mild detergent is a gentle cleaning solution that contains only surface-active agents.
Here are some tips for caring for direct-to-garment (DTG) printed shirts:
Wash: Wash in cold water (below 90°F or 30°C) on a gentle cycle with a mild detergent. Turn the shirt inside out to protect the print and avoid scratches. Avoid fabric softener and bleach.
Dry: Hang-dry is best, but you can also tumble-dry on a low cycle.
Iron: Use a cool iron inside out and avoid ironing the print. For dark garments, you can use the steaming option to help the print stay put.
Sunlight: Keep the shirt turned inside out when exposed to the sun to prevent fading.
Washing again: Don't wash the shirt again right after washing it. Wet fibers are more likely to stretch and break.
Wash with similar colors: Wash with other like colors.
